Missing Summer Vacations

Thursday (04/01/2010) I geared up myself for a looong weekend. Came to office in Morning shift, since I had Tippu Express to catch @ 3 pm to Mysore(Heritage City). I left office early at around 1 pm and reached Bangalore City Railway station @ 2.30 pm. I was stunned seeing the crowd but thank god I had reserved my ticket, one good thing which I did . Train arrived @ 3 pm sharp, since I seldom travel by train, I had to take help of people to find my compartment and finally found D2/60 window seat, I was happy since I love watching country side filled with green.

I was making myself comfortable, next to me arrived an elderly gentleman with his daughter who had an infant probably 4-5 months old. Even before the train started to move I had to scarifice my window seat :( , since I was not in position to reject the request of elderly gentleman. Opposite to me were 2 kids studying 3rd and 5th travelling with their mother to Mysore.

Journey started, I was so much disappointed losing my window seat ,so started to read The Alchemist, Journey was silent with cool breeze surfacing across my hair, Infant enjoying the site outside the window with its mom, 2 kids infront of me reading tinkle and thier mom fallen asleep.

It was 30 mins of quiet and pleasnt journey, when all of the sudden a loud quarrel between a lady and the TT started regarding her ticket since she had boarded the reservation compartment and had to pay some extra fair for that, this took place for 30 minutes from the time the quarrel started due to which the aunt sitting infront of me woke up, poor lady ;). But on the other hand it took lot of people's time and energy to convince the lady she had to pay extra with no option left.I feel its really hard to convince any ladies, poor TT dono how many people of such category he comes across everyday.

In the mean time I was waiting for tomato soup, it costs 5 rupees but worth drinking in Tippu express. Since the journey was boring I had to break into conversation with the kids sitting in front of me. I asked them why they were travelling to mysore, I could see gliters in their eyes when they said, they were moving to their grany's house in mysore for summer vacation, I then realised, Oh.... finally summer holidays are started for school, I was taken back to my good old school days, to my summer vacations were I used to visit all places for 2 months to meet my cousins , aunts, uncles, I think we are all missing those days.

My conversation continued with kids for sometime, after which I went in search of tomato soup but instead found guava, By then I reached Mandya, saw kids busy playing dot game, in which the younger one lost, but was not ready to accept the defeat and thier mom had to come to sort out the issue, finally the eldest had to accept the defeat despite of the victory, it was fun watching them quarrel rather than the lady who quarreled in ugly manner with the TT.

Since both the kids were sharing the window seat, got excited when the train passed river Kaveri and both of them dropped 1 Rupee coin into the river. I wanted to ask their mom the reason beyond it but kept myself quite because it would not be nice questioning once belief. To keep myself quiet ,I guess tomato soup arrived at my seat which I had along with famous maddur vada, by the time I could finish the train hit the out skirts of mysore.

I went and stood at the door side to view the heritage city. Even though it might not be a good sight of the city, but it always feel great to see the city in which everyone of us our born and brought up, no matter how many times we would have seen the same sight, but evertime you see it, feels great.

When the train reached the station i took my luaggage. Wished happy vacation to the kids for which in return they gave a bright smile ,a wave(tata). In the mean time the elderly gentleman and her daughter also gave a gratitude smile for scarificing my window seat to them and both the kids were still waving their sign of good bye to me, I did the same to them and got down started to move out of the station. When I turned back to get the final glimpse of my co-passengers, I could not find them, since they were lost in midst of the crowd. I continued my walk to the auto stand and departed from the railway station to bus stand.

It was a very nice journey which reminded me of my forgotten school days, the days were we used crave for summer vacations, I wished we had summer vacation but a paid one lol :) for atelast 1 month, thinking partically which we will never get.

Please Note:- This is my first blog, any kind of discrepancies please let me know I shall correct it in future and try to avoid them.
